Solution Engineer 


The Solution Engineer (SE) is the primary contact for the production of technical solutions in line with customers’ requirements, working closely with the Account Manager (AM) in a supporting presales role.

Overview
 The role comprises the following principal duties:
• Customer visits and telephone meetings alongside the AM
• Supporting the AM with strategy discussions and market/technology information for best positioning opportunities with the customer. 
• Working very closely across the entire organization (in a matrix fashion) to develop and design optimised customer solutions (Solution/Product Life Cycle). 
• A broader role sharing best practice, experience and knowledge with the rest of the organisation and thus contributing to improvements across the company 
Customer visits and telephone meetings:  
• Actively participate in customer discussions in order to identify the customer’s requirements.  
• Support the AM with evaluation / feasibility studies together with the Market Manager (MM) and Product Manager (PM).  
• Package network and product elements to build solution options corresponding to the opportunities identified.  
• Provide support materials for customer discussions, and furnish technical benefits to AM for positioning with the customer.
 Building customer solutions: 
• Work with the PM and other Networks personnel to provide an optimised, sustainable solution following the Ways of Working developed by the SE group. 
• Work with Network and Product Management where new services are required, to present the case and relevant support documentation.
• Discuss design options with the customer.  
• Verify technical and commercial feasibility including network element availability and delivery intervals.  
• Identify SLA issues (quality analysis).  
• Identify threats and opportunities (risk analysis). 
• Identify leased elements required, and request cost and delivery information (procurement analysis). 
• Accurately document all incremental cost elements including operational costs and any investment required. This includes equipment, infrastructure, installation, leased elements, colocation and power. 
• Verify product elements are within guidelines. NB solutions can include any part of the TeliaCarrier product portfolio.
Production of Solution Documents:  
• Document all elements of the solution using the standard Solution Document templates.  
• Support discussions and decision forums when solutions are reviewed.  
• Update solution revisions as required.  
• Store all solutions in the Solution Management Office.
Solution Implementation:
• Provide complete solution hand-off to Delivery for implementation after sale
• Support implementation kick-off meetings with Delivery organization as required.  
• Update solution documentation if necessary.  
Input to Product, Process and Network Improvement:
• Collect customer requirements and identify product areas where feature enhancements or new product offerings may be made to enhance or improve the company product positioning, and sales opportunities.  
• Provide this feedback in a structured manner to PMs, 
• Collect customer requirements and identify network and/or process areas where enhancements or new locations may offer more customer opportunities, reduce costs, or provide better flexibility & reliability.  
• Provide this feedback in a structured manner to MMs.  
• Coordinate with Network Development/PM for any service expansions.

The SE Engineer will be part of the SE group that is composed of highly skilled professionals. (S)he will work closely with his/her SE peers, providing them with shared experience, support, knowledge, skills, feedback, lessons learned, tools, updates, training, materials, solutions, time and effort. 

Qualifications and Skills  
• High level of expertise in wholesale telecoms product 
 Infrastructure/Colocation: Strong knowledge background
 DWDM: Strong knowledge background (manufacturer certifications – Infinera, Coriant…) 
 IP: Strong IP knowledge background (CCNA, CCNP (preferable) or equivalent)
 Ethernet: Strong Ethernet knowledge background (MEF certification or equivalent)
 Security: Strong Security knowledge background (DDoS)
 Extra desirable: PMP, Cloud Services (AWS…) 
 Education: Master degree or equivalent
 Experience: 10 years in the Telecom Industry
• High level of technical and commercial awareness
• Good problem solving and solution design skills
• Excellent communication skills, verbal and writing
• Understanding of business and operations
• Proactive, Can-Do attitude
• Good team player with strong interpersonal skills to maintain a positive working atmosphere and establish collaborative relationships with various levels of management required
